Getting your holiday on? Yep, school’s out and summer’s in. You know what that means… sun protection!

While you may think slapping on any type of sunscreen is okay, you may actually be doing more harm than good. When did sunscreen get so confusing? I hear you ask. All that lotion soaking into your pores can carry harmful ingredients. There’s even growing concern that these chemical filters may not only trigger pigmentation but are also thought to be endocrine disruptors – in layman’s terms, they may mess with your hormones. Eek.

Switching to physical (mineral based) sunscreen works to reflect UV rays off the skin instead of absorbing or sometimes even scattering UV rays, as do chemical based sunscreens.

Of course it’s entirely up to you which type of sunscreen you choose to use, it’s your face, your wallet and your skin. So here, we have outlined a few physical based (as opposed to chemical) sunscreens, or even a hybrid of both, for you to test and try out:

Dermalogica Sheer Tint SPF 20 and Cover Tint SPF 20

Dermalogica’s newest system works to improve skin health, while concealing surface imperfections with a subtle wash of sheer colour. Offering two levels of coverage, integrating UV defense with SPF 20, both products are hydrating, utilise natural mineral iron oxides and contain antioxidants to combat free radical damage and support skin cell renewal.

Sheer Tint SPF 20 – $60.00 for 44ml

Cover Tint SPF 20 – $60.00 for 44ml
